EVA Air Baggage Policy designed to cater to various travel needs. This guide provides detailed information on carry-on and checked baggage allowances, excess baggage fees, special item policies, and recent updates to ensure a smooth travel experience.
EVA Air's carry-on baggage policy varies by travel class:
Royal Laurel, Premium Laurel, and Business Class: Passengers are permitted two carry-on bags, each not exceeding 7 kg (15 lbs), with maximum dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in).
Premium Economy and Economy Class: Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag with the same weight and size restrictions.
In addition to the carry-on allowance, all passengers may bring one personal item, such as a laptop bag, handbag, or small backpack. The combined weight of carry-on and personal items should not exceed the specified limits.
EVA Air employs both the piece and weight concepts for checked baggage, depending on the route:
Piece Concept (Applicable to flights to/from the U.S., Canada, and certain South and Central American countries)
Royal Laurel, Premium Laurel, and Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg (70 lbs)
Premium Economy Class: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Economy Class: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Discount Economy Fare (A Class): 1 piece up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Infants (without a seat): 1 piece matching the accompanying adult's allowance.
Each piece's total dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
Weight Concept (Applicable to other international routes)
Royal Laurel, Premium Laurel, and Business Class:
40 kg (88 lbs).
Premium Economy Class: 35 kg (77 lbs).
Economy Class: 30 kg (66 lbs).
Discount Economy Fare (A Class): 20 kg (44 lbs).
Infants (without a seat): 10 kg (22 lbs).
The total dimensions for each piece should not exceed 203 cm (80 in).
Passengers exceeding their baggage allowance will incur additional fees:
Baggage exceeding 292 cm (115 in) in total dimensions is not accepted as checked baggage and should be transported as cargo.
EVA Air offers a 10% discount on excess baggage fees when purchased online at least 4 hours before departure:Weight System Routes: Additional baggage can be purchased in 5 kg (11 lbs) increments, up to 100 kg (220 lbs) per passenger, with a maximum of 30 kg (66 lbs) per checked bag.Piece System Routes: Up to 5 additional pieces can be purchased, totaling 110 kg (250 lbs) per passenger, with each bag not exceeding 23 kg (50 lbs).
Prepaid baggage purchases can be made through the "Manage Booking" section on EVA Air's website or mobile app.
Infants not occupying a seat are entitled to:
Weight Concept Flights: 10 kg (22 lbs) of checked baggage.
Additionally, one collapsible stroller, car seat, or infant carrying basket is permitted, either in the cabin (subject to space availability) or as checked baggage.
Sporting Equipment
Sporting equipment is generally accepted as part of the free baggage allowance, provided it meets size and weight restrictions. Oversized or overweight items may incur additional fees. It's advisable to contact EVA Air in advance to confirm the acceptance and fees for specific equipment.
Effective March 1, 2025, EVA Air prohibits the use and charging of power banks and spare lithium batteries during flights to enhance safety. These items must be carried in carry-on baggage and properly stored to prevent compression or damage. They are strictly prohibited in checked baggage. Smart baggage equipped with non-removable lithium batteries exceeding 0.3g or 2.7Wh is not accepted. If the battery is removable, it must be carried in the cabin. Recalled lithium batteries and devices are also prohibited unless the manufacturer has replaced the battery or guarantees the product's safety.
Baggage over 32 kg (70 lbs): Must be repacked into lighter units to comply with handling regulations.
More than 10 pieces of checked baggage: Passengers must contact EVA Air's reservation office at least 48 hours before departure.
