How to Calculate AC Tonnage

There are different ways of calculating the tonnage of an AC. A general rule of thumb to use is to multiply the length and breadth of the room (in feet). Take the square root of the total sum and divide it by 10. The answer will be the required tonnage for the room.

Say, you have a room that’s 10 feet wide and 15 feet tall. 

10X15 = 150 square feet. 

Take the square root of 150 = 12.24, divide this by 10 = 1.224

You need a 1.2-ton AC in your room.
