Bird Watching in India: From the Himalayas to the Andaman Islands

India Birding Tours was founded out of a love for birds. Around 2004, our founding member, Gaurav Kataria, embarked on a journey to travel throughout India and photograph every bird species he encountered.

India Birding Tours was founded out of a love for birds. Around 2004, our founding member, Gaurav Kataria, embarked on a journey to travel throughout India and photograph every bird species he encountered. Over the years, we have grown, evolved, and expanded from a fledgling enterprise into a year-round Indian birding holiday tour operator with an enviable record of successful tours for birdwatchers, photographers, and vacationers from around the world. Very few other bird tour operators can cover India as thoroughly as we do.

Birding in India

Birding in India offers so much choice that one can easily overlook a potential birding hotspoteclipsed by a popular tourist hill station nearby. One such hotspot is the Kaudia forest in Kanatal, Uttarakhand. For someone who makes a living out of exploring remote birding trails of India – from Rann of Kutch in Gujarat to Eaglenest in Arunachal Pradesh – the prospect of birdwatching in Kaudia forest, which is about a 6-hour drive from the national capital Delhi, did not at first appear as anything out of the ordinary.

Bird Watching in Andaman

Bird Watching in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is an object lesson in avifauna evolution for any curious birder or student of Darwin. For it is here, on this cluster of islands hundreds of miles off the east coast of mainland India, that one gets to find as many as 21 endemic species of birds. Our Andaman Birding Tour takes you to one of the world's remotest birding hotspots, where you'll be treated to a wonderful pageantry of endemic birds.
