1. Checked Baggage Allowance

Air Austral's checked baggage policy varies based on the route and class of service.

Long-Haul Flights

  • Loisirs (Economy Class): 25 kg

  • Confort (Premium Economy): 35 kg

  • Club Austral (Business Class): 40 kg

For flights between Reunion and Guangzhou:

Loisirs: 2 pieces x 23 kg

  • Confort: 2 pieces x 23 kg

  • Club Austral: 2 pieces x 32 kg

  • Each piece must not exceed 32 kg, except for flights to/from Thailand, where the limit is 30 kg per bag. 

Regional Flights

  • Loisirs: 25 kg

  • Confort: 30 kg

  • Club Austral: 40 kg

On the Saint-Denis ↔ Rodrigues route, the maximum allowance is 15 kg due to operational reasons. 

Dimensions

Checked baggage dimensions must not exceed 180 x 80 x 40 cm.


2. Cabin (Carry-On) Baggage Allowance

Passengers are allowed:

  • One carry-on bag: Maximum dimensions of 55 x 45 x 20 cm and weight up to 10 kg.

  • One personal item: Such as a laptop bag, handbag, or briefcase.

Cartons and boxes are not considered as baggage.


3. Excess Baggage Fees

If your baggage exceeds the free allowance:

  • Long-haul flights: €80 per additional bag if purchased online up to 24 hours before departure; €100 if paid at the airport.

  • Regional flights: €45 online; €50 at the airport.

For Light fare passengers needing checked baggage:

Up to 24 hours before departure: €50 per leg.

  • At the airport: €70 per leg. 

4. Special Baggage

Sports Equipment

Sports equipment like golf bags, surfboards, and bicycles can be transported as checked baggage, provided they meet size and weight restrictions. Excess fees may apply if they exceed the standard allowance. 

Musical Instruments

Musical instruments should be packed in rigid protective cases. Instruments in soft cases are not accepted in the hold. If the instrument is your only checked item, it may be included in your allowance; otherwise, additional fees apply. 

Oversized Baggage

Baggage exceeding 158 cm but not more than 300 cm must be checked in at the "Oversize Baggage" counter. An additional fee of €100 applies at the airport. Items exceeding 300 cm require prior approval. 

5. Infant and Child Baggage Allowance

  • Infants (under 2 years): Allowed 10 kg of checked baggage.

  • Children (2-11 years): Same allowance as adults.

  • Youth (12-25 years) and Students: On long-haul flights, 2 pieces of 23 kg each, upon presentation of a student card.
